Image Tiling Options

There are now four types of image tiling available in the Surface Tab: None, Repeat, Mirror, and Edge. Mirror allows for easy seamless tiling of images, whereas Edge extends the edge color of the image to fill time image map area.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Global Illumination in a Viewport

Global Illumination is an option while previewing your scene, and illumination and shading information are updated interactively. See the effects of global illumination more quickly, without waiting for the the Figure Window to refresh.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Standard and Shade 3D Professional.

Top & Bottom Stereoscopic Rendering

Top and Bottom are new stereoscopic 3D rendering methods. Images rendered for the left and right eyes can be arranged vertically. This format is supported by regular 3D displays and TVs, and is particularly optimized for polarized 3D.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

3D Polarized Monitor Support

Work interactively in 3D in Shade 3D perspective view when you connect a polarized (passive) 3D monitor to your Windows or Mac OS X computer and use 3D glasses. Requires a NVIDIA® 3D VISION™ compatible monitor, glasses and graphics card.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Face Bevel Distance from Vertex

When extruding a face using Face Bevel, you can choose whether to measure the specified distance along each vertex's normal, or each face's normal.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Radiosity Compatible Mode

This feature enables certain Radiosity options for working with indirect and direct energy when rendering using Path tracing. Radiosity scenes created in previous versions of Shade can be converted to use G.I. Path Tracing.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Standard and Shade 3D Professional.

Thickness for Meshes & Surfaces

Create thickness for faces of selected polygon meshes or for curved surfaces. For meshes, creates faces with thickness after flipping and unifying normals and deleting original face. Add thickness outwards or inwards from faces, or both. For surfaces, create new curved surfaces with thickness, outwards or inwards or both.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Illuminance Correction

The intensity of all lights in the scene can be adjusted at once to correct the brightness of the scene. This allows a global adjustment of all light sources within a scene, relative to each other on a per render basis. When the Use All Lights property is true, you can preview adjustments in real time in all preview modes except Wireframe.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Standard and Shade 3D Professional.

Command Palette

Customize the floating Command Palette by assigning almost any Shade function, making them immediate actions with a single click.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

MultiPass Rendering Sampling Count

Previously, there has not been a way to check the number of calculated samples, and with the inclusion of the ability to set the individual properties of Surface Material and Shadow Softness quality, it is useful to know which areas require the most render processes.  The sampling count for each pixel is displayed visually using different colors.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Standard and Shade 3D Professional.

Manage UV Layers

Manage UV layers more effectively - duplicate and rearrange layers in the Manage UV Layers Window. Append new UV layers, duplicate a layer, and clear all UV layers.  A selected UV layer (as a whole or the selection only) or a Face Group can also be saved as an image file.

Use the Fit button to display a selected UV exactly within a Viewport.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Per Surface Material Quality

Select the quality of each, individual material when rendering to improve overall render time. Even if you mix materials with different settings properties in a surface, the quality slider affects them proportionately, allowing you to optimize the output of all of them at once.

This feature is only available in Shade Professional.

Face Groups Display Options

All Face Groups of a selected polygon mesh are displayed with the UV Menu with selection options, allowing you to display and edit individual Facegroup UVs, all Face Group UVs or only UVs without a Face Group.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Per Light Quality When Rendering

Adjust quality on each light source (standard or volumetric lights) in your scene, allowing you to lower or raise them to optimize your rendering for speed.  Simple adjustments to quality on a per light basis can also be combined with the effects from quality controls in the Render Settings Dialog Box; Render Settings.

This feature is only available in Shade 3D Professional.

Active UV Layer

Working with selecting models from Browser or selecting a material from the Surface Tab, you can automatically display the UV layer in any Viewport showing UV View.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

STL Import Export

3D printing has become the next generation output method for digital imaging. STL or Standard Triangulated Language is supported as both an import and export format within Shade 3D.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

Line Offset Tool

Offset is a function that lets you generate one or more lines or curved surfaces from another by distance, enabling you to create new geometry built from lines or curved surfaces.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

LSCM UV Maps

Least Squares Conformal Map (LSCM) is an indispensable UV unwrap methodology for using arbitrary edges for seam placement when separating and unfolding a UV mesh. Using LSCM, you can achieve much better results when bringing together a UV map and polygon mesh.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Standard and Shade 3D Professional.

Text Primitive

Using this tool it is now possible to directly input and edit 3D text within the Figure Window, much like you would in a word processor. You can more intuitively create and edit properties such as extrusion height and letter spacing using an interactive, real time slider.

New in 14.1.1. Character and line spacing options and vertical text.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.

OpenGL Core Profile

With the Use All Lights Display option and OpenGL 3.2 or higher, the lighting in your modeling Viewport now more closely resembles your final rendered image. Color correction settings of Gain, Gamma, and Bias are reflected in shading view display. Gamma of texture images is improved with Use All Lights or Use Global Illumination.

This feature is available in Shade 3D Basic, Standard and Professional.
