You should a copy of your serial number in a safe place. Also, I recommend you maintain a backup of the content and software installers. A modest sized USB thumbdrive will do the trick.

An email was sent to every registered user with temporary download information for all versions of Shade 3D. You should download those files as soon as possible.

I'm sorry, what I meant was: Doesn't the software try to authenticate the software serial code through online servers when entering it the first time? I have the Shade files backed up in triplet, and External HD, a USB drive, and a DVD. That's not the issue (thanks for the reply though!) but rather the concern lies with the validation process, if there is one. It's been a while since I installed the software, so I don't remember.

I don't think it does. I can't speak for any new build that might have been compiled after we sold it, but the version you got from us I do not think has anything of the kind. It will detect though if another copy with the same serial is running on your network.

My question is: What will happen when I attempt to install and register my software should my hard drive suffer a catastrophic failure and need to be replaced, or something of the sort?

Well, I saw this coming when Shade3d Co. took over the sales of Shade. At least Shade still lives, which is cool.
Anyway, I think Mirye deserves credit for keeping Shade english alive and kicking, let's hope the new company does the same.

As far as the support goes, I don't think the new company will want to alienate legacy users. They have a forum now.

Once you buy an upgrade things will be official anyway......

Question 1 (protest), why so short notice time before stopping support?

This is a hard question to answer.

We are going to continue to keep these forums as long as we can. And the Mirye Software team will attempt to answer questions as best we can to our existing customers. We won't be publishing Shade 3D any more, but we still love Shade 3D and want our customers to be happy.

How the new owners of Shade 3D treat customers isn't up to us, but I believe they intend on supporting existing licensees of Shade 3D. We are still here for you, but the Mirye Software team is not officially the publishers of Shade 3D in English.
