The Almond (Prunus dulcis, syn. Prunus amygdalus Batsch., Amygdalus communis L., Amygdalus dulcis Mill.) is a species of tree of the genus Prunus native to the Middle East.

The almond tree was depicted throughout the  Old Testament; it is thought that Aaron's Rod that Budded also budded with greenery and almonds.
